Sandwiches and baguettes, are available with so much filling they can be a challenge to pack! Once again, we provide passers by with our full sandwich selection - available for taking away in the [ Snack Stop ] and the [ filling station ].

[ Healthy Living Award ]
The Healthy Living Award

As you enter our restaurant, you will see green apples on the pillars, and little tiny ones on our menus. We have recently been awarded our healthyliving award, and are very proud of the achievement. For the years our family has been in business, we have always attempted to approach the 'healthy option' in our menus. Since 1965, we have never sold chips, and have (very stubbornly) stuck to this ethos. Deep frying only takes place when we cook croutons - that's it! When it came down to it, achieving the healthyliving award had its complications, but the simplest part was really removing the salt from the tables. The bread for our sandwiches is a healthy option, and where possible, we have reduced salt in cooking and have been conscious of all the ingredients used. To be fair, a large percentage of our menu was already pretty healthy, we have now just increased the range of healthy option goodies for you to enjoy.

[ Eat Safe Award ]
The Eatsafe Logo - a sign of excellence in standards of food hygiene
'The main aim of the scheme is to provide an incentive to caterers to strive for food hygiene and food safety management standards beyond those required by law. It will also help consumers make informed choices about where to eat out by providing a recognisable 'sign' of excellence in standards of food hygiene.
Eligible establishments are assessed for the award as part of scheduled food hygiene inspections carried out by EHS and the issuing and control of the Eat Safe award certificates is handled by local authorities.'
[ Eat Safe ] is awarded to businesses that set up and maintain efficient and effective food safety management systems which are used daily, constantly monitored and reviewed. We are lucky here at The Green Welly Stop to be able to train our staff to Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland standards. Fiona Robertson - one of the business partners is qualified in a Diploma in Advanced Food Hygiene, and has also just passed her Advanced HACCP (Food Safety Management - to keep it simple!!) Not only does Fiona train her own staff, but also local businesses send their staff to The Green Welly Stop for Food Hygiene Training
