Bruichladdich Links / Vancouver Golf Club / Malt Whisky / 70cl
This is the next in the Bruichladdich Links series, a 16 Year Old celebrating - Vancouver Golf Club
This is going to be the rarest release so far, with only 6000 bottles available.
Number 11 in the Links series (going to be 18 altogether)
The Vancouver Golf Club, as it approaches the celebration of its first one hundred years, remains one of the most distinguished golf clubs in Canada and North America, with an impeccable pedigree and proud heritage having been the venue of the Du Maurier US PGA Senior tournament, and the Du Maurier US LPGA major tournaments. To commemorate their centenary world renowned golf artist Graeme Baxter was commissioned to paint the 10th hole for posterity.
Original cast maturation - Bourbon
Additional cask maturation - Chateau Haut Brion, one of the original 4 prestigious Bordeaux First Growth classified wines.
Uniquely bottled on Islay at 46% strength using Islay water.
Non chill filtered and colouring free.
Tin has a reproduction of Graeme Baxter's image of the 10th Hole.
Tasting Notes
Colour - Deep copper touched with rouge
Body - The light creaminess of the 16 year old bourbon matured Laddie is taken to another level by the elegance of Haut Brion to give a mouth feel that is ripe, succulent and juicy.
Nose - The olfactory senses are washed in the beautiful aromas evolving gracefully from the Bruichladdich spirit and both the Bourbon and Haut Brion casks. Crisp red apple and fresh ripe plums burst over biscuit sweet malted barley with a flash of lemon honey and iodine from the coastal maturation. After a wave of vanilla soothes and mesmerizes, your attention is turned to an abundance of pink rose petals, cherries, figs, wild honey and a hint of mocha.
Palate - Feast on the alluring warmth of the spirit as it passes over the palate creating pockets of flavour to tease and reward as you discover all on offer. Hot buttered popcorn, red fruits, crisp cereal, mint fudge, Cassis, dark chocolate and cloves unite together to create a taste phenomenon of unprecedented magnitude. Soft tropical fruit flavours and mild oak nuances add to the whirlpool of intoxication that exemplifies all that we use our passion, skills and knowledge to strive for.
