Colour - Deep, rich, intense, honied gold.
Aroma - A silky haze of exquisite aromas rolls out, like an early morning mist. Calm and gentle. Old English marmalade and fruit cake coupled with fleshy ripe bananas, treacle toffee and roasted coffee beans flaunt themselves in a truly elegant manner. The finesse and refinement of this masterpiece is magnificently balanced and compares with the finest and rarest aged cognacs. A noble spirit of this age and beauty is exceptional especially when only a subtle hint of American White Oak gently reveals itself in the background. Enticing notes of oloroso sherry, marzipan and sun kissed peaches are majestically displayed. The final bouquet is a symphony of orange, soft fleshy fruits, heather and honey.
Taste - The nose is reflected on the palate. Intense orange peel and liquorice fill the mouth at first but then this spectrum of gold gives way to the sensual warmth of aged Matusalem oloroso sherry. Old oak and citrus orange are delicately balanced with enriching flavours of crushed almonds warm honeyed, vanilla spice and cinnamon. Only by holding long in the mouth will this treasure chest of jewels open up to its many hidden secrets of delight.
Comment - It has taken years to create a Single Malt of this class - the ‘passion’ found in this spirit must be allowed time to display its true identity. By giving it all the respect it richly deserves and savouring its fine attributes, you will not be disappointed.
It takes years to create a masterpiece but only seconds to recognise it.
