Shepherds Cottage
Chenin Blanc Semillon Chardonnay 2008
White Wine - 75cl
The Shepherd's Cottage wines are made from grapes grown on deep, weathered granite soils on south facing vineyards cooled by the afternoon sea breezes from False Bay. These estate - grown wines are produced on the Overgaauw Estate - in the world famous Stellenbosch district - one of the Cape's oldest and most revered producers which has been owned by the van Velden family since 1783. David van Velden, in his early thirties, has recently taken on full responsibility for winemaking at the estate - his energy, newideas and enthusiasm clearly shows in Overgaauw's latest releases and in the Shepherd's Cottage wines. A pioneering winery, Overgaauw is renowned for producing some of South Africa's finest, longest lived wines - Shepherd's Cottage is their everyday drinking range.
The wines are named after the old cottage on the Overgaauw farm which was originally built to house the local Shepherd. It is aquaint, humble home - for the last two generations, the newly - wed van Velden children have had the privilege of calling this cottage their home, for the first few years of their married life.
The dedicated van Velden winemaking passion ensures that these fruity, accessible and drinkable wines still carry the classic Overgaauw signature
Light straw colour with yellow-green tints / gentle citrus aromas of pineapple and pear / Crisp in the mouth, refreshing, fruity and dry with flavours of tropical fruit, enriched with herbaceous nuances.
