On the eastern edge of Speyside at Kennethmont, nestled between the River Bogie, the Clashindarroch Forest and the foothills of the Grampian mountains. (lies Ardmore Distillery) It was founded in 1898, just before the collapse of the whisky market a year later due to over supply.

Its survival can be attributed to the fact that it was built to maintain malt supplies for Teachers' Highland Cream. The word Ardmore is derived from the Gaelic, Ard-moi, meaning "big slope".

Colour: Dark Gold.
WITHOUT WATER:
Nose: Rich Sherry influences with hints of stewed fruits and charred oak. A delicate smokiness develops in the background.
Palate: Black pepper initially with green apple and ripe banana flavours. An underling peat smoke edge lingers.
WITH WATER:
Nose: Hints of beeswax polish, red apple and plum initially. Complimented a by a lingering menthol edge.
Palate: Black cracked pepper with sweet strawberry and orange flavours. Complimented by cinnamon and a delicate trace of charred oak.
Body: Medium.
Finish: Long, smooth with hint of smoke.
