Craigduff 1973 45YO Signatory 30th Anniversary Cask #2518
Produced at the Glen Keith distillery in the early 1970s, Craigduff was the result of an experiment to produce a peaty Speyside. Truly a small-scale, "exclusive" whisky, this single malt merits high acclaim. Distilled on 4th April 1973, this version reveals a peat that has become translucent with time but which, when the moment comes, wonderfully plays the role of troublemaker. Above all, its presence highlights the full breadth and depth of the aromatic palette. Next, it provides rhythm to a finish that longs to return to its earliest years.
Colour: Topaz with subtle copper glints.
Profile: The original nose reveals baking notes (biscuit). Allowed to breathe, candied fruits (pear) and a light peat pierce this veil of sweetness. The lively attack is fruity (grape, lemon), roasted and honeyed (acacia). The well-balanced finish emphasizes an earthy peat (clay) and a very complex youthful expression (blueberry, cocoa. cinnamon).
This whisky was disgorged and bottled under the supervision of Andrew W. Symington (Managing Director) in the Town of Pitlochry on 13th June 2018.
